a couple of arial photos of town

This is the CBD (still 1/3 need to come down)

And the Cathedral is at about 7 o'clock, and the Town Hall is at 3 o'clock. Mind you, the buildings in this photo are largely tagged to come down - so this one is going to change dramatically!

5.5 tonight, 4.8 yesterday....

Well I feel it is all back on.
We have had 4 big aftershocks in the last 24 hours.
IF there is another big earthquake please assume all is well until you hear otherwise. We have a Communication Plan... We know we can't call "out" but we can get sometimes get calls come in from outside our area, so my friend Maria in AKL will be calling me, Dom and Dad (she has everyone's cellphone numbers) to keep us up to date with where/how we are all doing, and she will help us work out who will get to the children. She will also keep everyone (which means, all of you) updated on Facebook - so check my page if you are worried. I will try to send out a message as soon as the cell coverage comes back on and I have electricity, but in the meantime NO ONE IS TO WORRY.

We are also prepared. We have plenty of water (drinking, and washing), food, toilet paper, cleaning supplies etc. We also have the garage cleaned out so if the house is a mess we should be able to stay in the garage (it is very light and will shake but not come down). The kids are well trained in acting like turtles, and at school their buildings (well, the buildings that are still standing and they are using) are new so they should be fine. If we are at home, then, phew! I'll have them safe!

But, you never know. We might not get anything else major. That's what I'm praying for.

Blimin' stressful, that's what it is....

As much as I HATE for the Aussies to win anything (that might then lead them on to beat us at something....) I was kind of relieved when they won. Or should I say, I was happy for friends and family in Aussie... Now that Dan Carter is out of the WC I'm just stressed and not sure that we will win. :(
