And a wee dose of reality for you

I'm just setting up the "bunker" (the dining room.... candles and matches, check,wind-up torches, check, my bag of money, medicines etc anchored to a chair, check, dining room chairs placed away from the table so we can literally dive under it, check, cellphone charging under the table, check, non-electric phone plugged in and within reach from under the table, check, 72 hour kids next to the table, check....) so I can go to bed and it occured to me that some of you (Sam) are probably wondering what we are doing about flushing the toilet since we have no water (and technically speaking are not supposed to be flushing... the city council said to "dig a hole in the back yard" but hello, I'm not there yet). These buckets of water were kindly filled for us by Sebastien out of water that is running down the gutter on our street. That is the only water available (neighbours hadn't yet offered us their pool water, but now we are good to go with that). Anyway when someone has done The Biz Dom comes and does a manual flush with a bucket of water. Shudder. But trust me, it could be worse....

C'est vrai qu 'on realise que lorsque qu'on a pas d'eau, on ne peut pas boire et pas se laver, etc. Mais surtout il y a pas d'eau pour flusher la toilette!!! OUf! Bonne chance!! On pense a vous!!

Yup, just like I did in Senegal for 2 plus years every single day. Not that I'm diminishing the pain in the neck that this is, just reminding you that it's doable and survivable over the long haul.
