Random photos from my trip to the supermarket this morning...

Guys trying to clear the silt from liquifaction out of the gutter.... Everyone is doing this. There are mountains of silt everywhere and people putting their backs into it.
Chemist on the corner of Bealey and Colombo
Our old house on Bealey Ave... not lookin' too good really

Merivale... (sob!)

This is what the roads look like. This, or there are just deep holes, or the road rises up about a metre.

Sam, isn't this Bard's old house?

Merivale again...

The Firestone Building at the top of Papanui Road... That just went straight down.
Because the kids have been playing on my computer I am having some problems with opening my photos so I'll be loading them up without having looked at them. Bare with me because I know there are some people who WANT pictures and don't care what kind of quality they get (Sam, that'd be you)
Dom and Seb are going great guns on the long drop (and the "seat" for it), Megane is heating water so I can handwash some clothes (I got some sunlight soap today at the shops... it smells like Nana's hot water cupboard) and my amazing boss' wife came by again with an incredible bacon and egg pie and some cookies and PRE BOILED WATER! Life is good.

That Bealey Ave. house makes me sad. I can tell they haven't been caring for it since before the earthquakes.

So so so heartbreaking to see so much destruction.

Thank you for keeping this blog. My friend Candace shared it with me here in Oregon. We are hearing so little about the details here in the US. And hearing it from you has made it all the more real. Again, thank you for keeping this up with everything else on your plate.

What a strange coincidence. Found your blog when I was looking for pics of Shag Rock :-(

- your old house on Bealey Ave. When did you live there? We lived in the house next door - but now it is all buggered as well. Shame too - as it had all been fixed up.

I live in the US now but flew home to ChCh my hometown - the day after the earthquake to be with my family and help in any way I could. I just got home last Sunday.
